UNC Creative

Institute for the Environment branding

Goals

The UNC Institute of Environment (IFE) is leading the School’s environmental community in developing solutions to pressing issues in today’s world. In order to spread its message efficiently and boldly, IFE wanted a consistent look for all materials released. IFE came to UNC Creative as the Center for for Sustainable Energy, Environment and Economic Development to transition to the Institute for the Environment. In addition to branding within the UNC Graphic Identity, it was important to the IFE that the marketing materials be as environmentally responsible as possible.

Process

We started with a type treatment and color palette for the Institute that was drawn from the colors of nature. The Institute eventually decided to have a full unit logo created, but maintained the type treatment style across a range of materials to ensure brand consistency. This brand foundation has played out over reports, brochures, newsletters and online for the IFE.

Results

The Institute has raised its visibility through the use of consistent branding and message that reinforces their mission.
