Comprehensive Annual Financial Report

Challenge

The Comprehensive Annual Financial Report is an annual report that has been generated for the past 22 years at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. It is created as an effort to provide accountability and transparency to the people of North Carolina and beyond concerning its fiduciary resources. The objective is to give accurate and obtainable information within the context of the overall mission and goals of the University.

Result

We developed a 124-page report that details items such as revenue, operating expenses, investments, capital assets, accrued liabilities and short-term revenue. It also features highlights of news stories from the previous year of remarkable initiatives, emerging opportunities, charitable donations and campus growth. Pulling visual elements from financial material such as certificates, bank notes and vouchers, we were able to design a report that reflected stability and tradition, while presenting highly complex information in an approachable manner.
